Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

Digital Street Smarts is an educational program from Carolina Bridge Tech, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. This policy covers digitalstreetsmarts.org and every game on it.

The short version

We collect as little as possible. Players type a first name or nickname, play the game, and see their results. We don't collect last names, emails, phone numbers, photos, or locations. We don't show ads, we don't sell or share data, and we don't use tracking cookies. Game data is deleted automatically within 7 days.

What we collect

When you play a game, we collect:

  • The first name or nickname you type
  • The session code your facilitator gives you
  • The answers and buttons you choose, and how long you take to choose them
  • Your score

We do not collect last names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, school names, ages, birthdays, or your location. We don't ask you to create an account.

How we use it

We use this information only to run the game: to build your game experience, score your answers, and show results. Your facilitator sees a results screen for the whole group, which may be shown on a projector to the class. It shows first names or nicknames, scores, and game choices.

We never sell this information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers listed below.

Service providers

  • Supabase stores game data so results can be shown to the group.
  • Netlify hosts this website. Like most web hosts, Netlify keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.

These providers handle data only to provide their services to us.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't use cookies. The games use your browser's built-in storage to save your progress during a game and to keep the game running if the internet connection drops. You can clear it anytime by clearing your browser data.

How long we keep it

Game data is deleted automatically within 7 days after a game session. Our database provider may keep short-term backups that are removed on its own schedule. We keep game data only as long as needed to show results during and shortly after a session.

Children and schools

Digital Street Smarts is designed for students, families, and community groups, including children under 13. We built the games to collect the least information possible, and players can use a nickname instead of their real name.

When the games are used in a school, the school authorizes their use for educational purposes on behalf of parents. We use student information only for that educational purpose and for no commercial purpose.

Parents and guardians can ask us what information we have about their child and ask us to delete it. Because we don't collect last names or contact information, please tell us the date, the program or school, and the first name or nickname used, and we will find and delete matching game data.

Security

We use secure (HTTPS) connections and limit what we collect, so there is little to protect in the first place. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we have.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above.
